Earlier this year Harbury e-Wheels was delighted to receive one of the Tesco Bags of Help Covid-19 grants of £500. In common with other charities we have had difficulty doing any fund raising events this year, not just a difficulty in fact but an impossibility. That has meant a gap of about £4,000 in our normal funding plans. The grant from Bags of Help may be small but it makes a difference as our costs don’t change whether we are able to function fully or not.
And we haven’t quite functioned normally. We haven’t been taking passengers for a while, a main raison d’etre but we have never stopped supplying the local main food bank at St Peter’s, Kineton. In the first 6 months of 2020 Harbury e-Wheels delivered nearly a tonne and a half of groceries, all donated by the people of Harbury. On August 3rd, however, we are back to proving passenger transport to people referred to us by surgeries and social agencies. It won’t be quite the same as the masked driver and passenger will look like two people heading for a heist.
We have found one way to keep funds coming in, however. Every month at 19:05 on the second Tuesday there is a virtual quiz to raise funds for us. It costs just £3 each time and winners and runners up do win money. The more who play the higher the prize money. I hope that you are getting the hint.
