As of today, April 10th 2019, Harbury e-Wheels is charity no 1182910. This may not be quite as exciting for you as it is for us and certainly, I willingly acknowledge, is not as dramatic as today’s main science news, the picture of the massive black hole billions of miles away in space. I can’t find an easy link between the two but we are a small charity and that black hole sure makes me feel small and insignificant.
But Harbury e-Wheels is not insignificant to the people that use our free green transport scheme (I found a link). This year so far we have broken all our own records with the busiest quarter ever at 485 hours of volunteer transport, 174 of which were in January. Last year our drivers completed around 12,000 miles to help local people in need to get to their destinations. All this means that we have to raise more money than ever, needing around £10,000 every year of operation. Being a charity allows us to approach many more funders than before. It also gives donors the confidence that our activities are truly charitable.
